Making a Strategy Execution actionable
Last week we gave a definition of Strategy and introduced the meaning of executing a Strategy. While the definition we gave was fairly comprehensive, today we would like to highlight one particular aspect of Strategy Execution: alignment.
In fact, implementing a Strategy, in other words making it actionable, is precisely the act of aligning operations, performance management and improvement, with business goals. Therefore, just like the lighthouse guides the sailors in the night and shows them the way, a Strategy Execution plan makes sure all members of the organization are working in the same direction.
In this sense, Strategy Execution means:
- Having a vision for where the business needs to go;
- Knowing how the business is going to compete;
- Understanding and investing in the capabilities to get there.
