Successful Agile Transformation Journey could overtake born-agile organizations

In the last years, a business trend is to move from a hierarchical and slow-moving organization to a flexible and fast-decision model, having the focus on “Agile Transformations”, this need has been strongly accelerated by the pandemic situation.

An Agile organization can allow the company to overcome competition, react quickly to market changes, find the right balance between routine work and innovation, and continuously incorporate customer feedback;  the achievement of the status of Agile Organization comes from the creation of a step-by-step approach oriented to a structural change of the Company.

A successful Transformation Journey should have a structured approach of value creation focusing at the beginning on the analysis of the as-is situation to obtain, through quantitative facts and the direct involvement of employees on multiple hierarchical levels,  solutions for a new organization that optimizes the model across strategies, structures, processes, people and technologies by going after the creation of specialized high-performing teams but developing frequent processes of prioritization and allocation of resources and spreading a positive psychological and technological culture.

Different Companies during the last years embarked on the Agile Transformation journey and some common findings of the business cases are that a structured Transformation Approach:

  • is effective if stimulated by the leaders of the organization (no bottom-up approach required);
  • allows exploiting innovation by increasing profitable growth;
  • allows exceeding the performance of born-agile organizations.

So, when there is a complex problem to solve, a situation that requires more creativity, an opportunity to work in contact with customers, or a simple need to increase profitability, it could be a good time to try to push toward the activation of an Agile Transformation Journey.
